Seth Godin is a best-selling author and businessman. After completing high school, he went on to study computer science and philosophy at Tufts University. After this, he studied a Marketing MBA at Stanford Graduate School of Business. While at Stanford, he worked for Spinnaker Software until he left in 1986. In 1986 he started his own company, Seth Godin Productions with $20,000 savings. At some point, he met Mark Hurst and founded Yoyodyne, a company created to use innovative ideas to promote among a target demographic. After a few years, he sold Godin Productions to his employees to focus his efforts on Yoyodyne and on the concept of permission marketing. After an investment, Yoyodyne became popular with large multinationals, including Microsoft, Volvo, Sony, and others. Yoyodyne was bought by Yahoo! for $30 million. Godin has also become a prolific author. He wrote the ebook, ‘Unleashing the Ideavirus’, which has been quoted as the most downloaded book ever. It has been made available free online and is also available in 10 different languages. Godin has also published several other books, including: Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable, All Marketers are Liars and The Big Moo: Stop Trying to Perfect and Start Remarkable. In total, he has written 17 books. He also launched Squidoo, sharing information on topics of interest. The website has been discussed by major US media outlets, including CNN and the Washington Post, and is now one of the top 500 most visited websites worldwide.
