As the co-founder and CEO of SparkToro, Rand Fishkin has made a name for himself in the marketing world. As a dedicated professional, he aims to help business owners better their marketing through his writing, videos, speaking, and book, Lost and Founder.
Rand dropped out of University to work at his mother’s small business marketing firm. He worked full-time as a web designer in her business until about 2004, when he created the SEOmoz blog, which during the next ten years would establish itself as one of the world’s most popular search marketing communities online.
In 2007, Moz transitioned from a traditional consulting role to software, and Fishkin took over as
CEO. During the next seven years, Fishkin grew the company to exceed $30 million in revenue, 30 million visitors per year, and a team of 130 employees.
In 2014, he stood down from the CEO position and left the company four years later. He also co-founded inbound.org, alongside Dharmesh Shah, which later sold to HubSpot.
In 2018, Fishkin started SparkToro with Casey Henry. He also wrote and published his acclaimed book Lost and Founder, an honest review of the startup world. In addition, he co-contributed two other books: Art of SEO and Inbound Marketing & SEO.
He has many accolades, awards and mentions, which include being named in BusinessWeek’s 30 Under 30. He has also invested in several other small businesses such as Backstage Capital, TinySeed Accelerator, and more.
